A Dog is for life and loves us unconditionally

We are role models to our dogs, and our children. So lets be the person your dog thinks you are.

My story

Growing up on a dairy farm in England I was surrounded by cows and dogs. My father had the most amazing border collie, ‘sally’ she could go get one cow from a herd and escort her up to the dairy. It took me many years later to do what I truly wanted and that was work with animals and people.  My career started as a Nurse, then child raising, and after studying dog behaviour, I opened my business.

K9 Potential was founded in 2009, and provides quality dog training to the residents of north west Brisbane. The training methods used are in line with the international humane society, predominantly using positive reinforcement. I only use evidence-based, force-free training methods drawn from validated research in the fields of canine behaviour, learning theory and animal welfare.

Value statement

With many years of experience in training dogs, nursing and raising two successful children and living life to the fullest, you can be assured of my values. K9 Potential represents excellent value for money.  We respect you as a customer, every person and dog has a story to tell.

What our clients say about us

Grayson

Therapy dog at the Y

“I couldn’t be any happier with the expertise, experience and guidance from Hilary and K9 Potential as Grayson and I trained up in 2024. Each of the modules was logically and carefully organised and the real-time support along the way was invaluable. Grayson loved working with Hilary too, and both of us were much better equipped to provide genuine, safe and meaningful support to young people afterwards. Thanks so much, Hilary!”
